Frozen Hot Chocolate

A week ago Monday, I think I died and went to heaven.

I was feeling rather PMSy all that day and needed something to fill the cravings and take some of the crank with it.   I remembered seeing this recipe a few days before and immediately dragged my computer into the kitchen, set it down in front of the microwave, opened it up, and began to pull down all the chocolate from the cabinet.

The recipe came from here at The Tasty Kitchen and was well worth the time it took to wait for the melted chocolate to come to room temperature. Well, well, well worth the patience invested.  (I kept sticking my finger in the concoction to see where the temp was at, so that helped ease the desperation somewhat)

Melting the butter, Green & Blacks hot cocoa (heaven in a can), and some sugar in my homemade double broiler. You gotta do what you gotta do.

All I can say here was that it was completely impossible to keep my hands out of this bowl.

Chocolate chips added, evaporated milk? Check.  Now?  We wait.  And wait. And wait.  While we also keep dipping our pinky in for a temp measurement.  It tasted like what I always imagine the chocolate river in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory must have tasted like.  Yeah, I woulda fallen in and been sucked up the tube…DElicious.

You have plenty of time to whip up some homemade whip cream while you are waiting for the chocolate to come to room temperature before putting it in the blender.  Which means more time to sample too…but oh dear lordy in heaven above…

These were THAT good.

I think we’re going to be trying that here sometime soon. VERY soon… xo
