Oh, Jennifer, this is something we all cannot help but struggle with in this culture. I am so happy you are finding and living at your own rhythm. The breath has been such wonderful tool for me, going farther and farther into the breath, becoming the breath, offering my frenzied, firing mind into the breath, offering all that I am into the sweet and subtle, ascending and renewing fire within the breath. Finally, finally, finally, this old woman is coming home to peace.

As the mother of four (nearly) grown daughters, I read your beautiful post with a rueful smile on my face. I'm not sure that I ever felt, "this is where I should be right now" while my children were young. I think that what happens over time is that you realize that even if you're not sure you're where you should be at this moment, that you HAVE BEEN where you've needed to be...because your children are growing up healthy and pretty well-adjusted, etc.
In my experience, it's not until mid-life when you actually feel like you finally are where you need to be 'in real time'.
Keep the faith, dear Mama, and all will come out right in the end!! Happy Holidays!

Wow, I really loved this post. Finding who we really are and what we truly want to do and be seems to be the ultimate, ongoing quest. In those rare moments when we see glimpses of it, there is truly magic. Thanks so much for your thoughts, mama!

Thank you, Jen. Lovely post. I've been having similar feelings this holiday season. This was a good reminder to me, that all we can do is live our lives as an expression of love and peace, and mindful presence.

That book sounds intriguing, Jen. As far as my own marriage goes, I make sure that Hubby knows that I love him even if I don't particularly care for what he doing at any given moment. It works for me.

I think you knitting is progressing quite nicely. Keep up the good work!

Hi there Jen...what an interesting post this is. Your book choice sounds fascinating...it's good to read the comments by the other bloggers especially Kelli who knows Iris Krasnow...she sounds like a great person...you both really have me wanting to get this book...in fact I've just had an email from a friend asking me what I want for Christmas so that's another problem solved!

It's hard sometimes to get a balance on life especially when our emotions can effect us so much...things that at other times may seem minuscule can become such a big thing when we're tired or a bit run down...it's hard to get the right perspective...I know that I sometimes set myself too many goals and that can only lead to frustration...but you seem to be achieving so much with all your lovely knitted gifts...and your reading and writing...

I love the idea of the Zen Shorts books for kiddies too...I wish they'd been available when my daughter Hannah was little.. oh and you make the cutes panda...

Take care of yourself and have an amazing holiday...

The knitting looks good:) It's nice to have a few knits done before Christmas.

Thanks for your comment yesterday. Yes I too have another binder of recipe overload to tackle after the holidays and more knitting.
